---Previous poster - You DID NOT follow the instructions, you DO NOT Wetsand with the 3000grit, only initially with the 1000 grit sandpaper, thats why the product did not work for you. Someone who you spoke with at Meguiar's was incorrect and unfamiliar with the product. Wetsanding is one step, and dry sanding is another. Your supposed to apply polish right after using the 3000Grit. How can you apply polish on a wet headlight? Sorry but you screwed up huge!---
This product worked absolutely flawless 100% perfectly for me. I am a car care enthusiast, and I'm glad I bought Meguiar's because you can never go wrong with any of their products. I had extremely clouded headlights on a 1995 Mitsubishi (clear plastic coating) and the coating was faded/cracked/cloudy. Followed the instructions, only took 45 minutes, and I am AMAZED at the results. I am telling you, the headlights were brought back to FACTORY NEW again, crystal clear, I'm so amazed. Picked it up at Advanced Auto Parts on sale for 24.99, and its the best 24.99 I've ever spent, new headlights would have cost me upwards of $600.00. Lenses went from horrible to New in 45 minutes.
TIPS:
1) Make sure you use a good glass cleaner or wipes (step 1) on the headlights. I used Armor All Glass Cleaner wipes. I did it twice to make sure the lenses were very clean, this is really important for the application to work properly. Also be sure to work on a cloudy day or in your garage when the headlight is not warm or hot.
2) When you wetsand and use the 1,000 grit sandpaper, you don't need a bucket of water as instructions state. A large glass of water is fine. All you do is pour water on the sandpaper to keep it wet every 30 seconds or so of sanding. I sanded each headlight approximately 4 or 5 minutes each, this was plenty.
3) When sanding, don't press too hard. Just use nice, even, steady pressure, don't press down hard. Side to side with the 1,000 grit and an upwards motion with the dry 3,000 grit.
4) A DRILL IS NOT NECESSARY! Even though they give you the buffer with the metal piece that attaches to the drill, I found it much easier and effective to apply the polish with steady pressure, circular motions by hand. I had a really old, cheap cordless drill and it worked decent but not great. For extra pressure and effectiveness, I did it by hand, and it came out absolutely incredible!!
5) Make sure to buff out the polish quickly before it dries. You can polish and buff a few times if you'd like, I only needed to do it twice for like new condition. Then apply the UV protectant coat, buff, and your done, headlights will be new again!! Very easy to use. Thank You Meguiar's!
